Residencies Workshops General FAQ’s Family Info Past Residencies

Possible questions to ask your child at various points during the residency:

What art form is the artist teaching in your classroom?
What is the connection to what you are learning in school? (language, history, math…)
What were some of the fun parts in today’s activities with the artist?
What was tricky or challenging?
What are you learning to make?
Is there anything you are supposed to do at home between sessions? If so, would you like some help?
How are you sharing your creations? Can I attend?

Preguntas que puede preguntar a su hijo(a) durante una residencia artistica:

¿Cuál forma de arte está enseñando el (la) artista invitado en tu aula?
¿Cómo se conecta lo que están haciendo en la forma de arte con lo demás que estan estudiando? (historia, matemáticas, lenguaje…)
¿Qué hicieron hoy con el artista que te pareció divertido?
Había algo difícil o desafiante?
¿Qué están aprendiendo hacer?
¿Hay algo qué debes hacer aquí en la casa entre classes con el artista? ¿Sí hay, necesitas ayuda?
¿Van a mostrar o presentar lo que están haciendo/aprendiendo? ¿Puedo venir a ver?

At the end of the residency:

What discoveries did you make?
What do you think you will remember the longest?
How do you feel about what you created?
What compliments on your work did the artist or other students share with you?
Did you keep a residency journal that we could see?
What else can you use your skills to create now?
What questions do you now have?

Possible enhancements or extensions:

• Visit your child’s classroom during one of the residency sessions — the final day is usually the most exciting, but any day you can visit is a gift
• Take your child to a free event in the same or similar art form to the one in the residency
• Ask your child to teach you one or more of the skills they learned during the residency
• Look for other opportunities for your child to learn more about the art form or the connected subject of the residency

• Visite el aula de su hijo(a) durante una de las sesiones de residencia: el último día suele ser el más emocionante, pero cualquier día que pueda visitar es un regalo para todos los involucrados.
• Lleve a su hijo a un evento gratuito en la misma forma de arte, o una forma similar a la de la residencia
• Pídale a su hijo que le enseñe una de las habilidades que aprendió durante la residencia.
• Busca otras oportunidades para qué su hijo aprenda más sobre la forma de arte o el tema conectado de la residencia
