Assistant Technical Director
The Santa Fe Opera seeks an experienced and motivated full-time Assistant Technical Director. The Santa Fe Opera works year-round to produce 5 operas for the summer festival season. The ATD along with the Technical Director, is responsible for analyzing and implementing scenic designs, creating technical drawings, assisting with hiring and supervising seasonal staff, and facilitating rentals.
Candidates must have BA in Theatre Production or comparable experience—previous repertory experience preferred. Candidates must have excellent construction, rigging, and people management skills. Candidates must have experience in AutoCAD and Artcam; Autodesk Inventor and Vectorworks a plus. Candidates must exhibit strong leadership and organizational skills and be willing and able to work collaboratively with others. Candidates must be able to work within and maintain a budget in a rigorous time schedule. Candidates must be able to carry 85 pounds and be able to climb and work from ladders. Candidates must be able to wear a respirator in accordance with OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard. Having own car highly recommended. Salary is commensurate with experience.
