"My son was asked by his mom if he wanted to see the new Indiana Jones movie and told her, 'No, I want to see the same opera we saw last weekend!' He loved getting dressed up and seeing people sing the story."

Opera Makes Sense

Opera Makes SenseChildren from 3 to 5 years old use their five senses to explore opera's many art forms through a variety of activities and games. Special care is taken to address the different developmental levels of toddlers, allowing them to experience as much or as little as they like.

Each session opens with a general theme, such as forests, animals or family. Several activities illustrate the selected topic as participants move from one station to another based upon their personal interest level. Opera's various art forms are introduced through poetry and song, music and dance, along with costumes and art activities related to scenery and props—all translated through the five senses.
