2012 Season: Tosca Dome

    This is a seasonal internship with varied hours, beginning January with 10 to 15 hours per week and expanding to 40 hours per week from late May until the end of August, 2016.  As the pre-season and in-season support role for the department, the job requires hands on and timely completion of the tasks assigned.  The position supports other departments in their requests for media or PR services.  The position allows for flexibility of hours between 9 and 5 pre-season to accomodate class schedule and requires evening and weekend hours from May through August.

    The Company's summer performance season is July and August.  There are a number of various seasonal positions available, some of which may begin as early as April or May.  Such positions include maintenance and groundskeeping jobs, retail (gift shop), bartenders, and front of house (usher) assignments.  (Please note that the deadline for submission of usher applications is May 30, 2016.)  If you would like to submit an application, please indicate information regarding your preferred type of work.

    Seasonal Box Office Customer Service Rep

    Position Ends Approximately: various

    Representatives provide excellent service to patrons of the Opera by assisting them with ticket purchases and program questions. Therefore, it is important to become familiar with the season's repertoire, the layout of the theater, and the general rules of the house.

    There are several positions with weekly hours fluctuating between 20 and 40, dependent on the needs of the box office. Start dates are from mid-April to early June.

  • Orchestra


    The Santa Fe Opera Orchestra Library Apprentice studies under the Orchestra Librarian.  He/she will work directly with the Chief Conductor, Guest Conductors, Orchestra Manager, orchestra players, music staff, and Production Music Services staff and apprentices.

    Dates:    June 4 – July 30 (Some off campus, pre-season work will be required starting in mid-May.)

    The primary responsibility of the Opera Club Steward is to act as Club “house manager” and to coordinate/facilitate the privileges of the Opera’s top patrons, Club members, and special visitors throughout the season.

    Responsible for assisting the Special Events staff with the preparation and execution of special events associated with the Opera’s Board of Directors and Donors during the summer season.

    Working primarily with the Community Engagement Liaison and the Director of the Department, manages all aspects of the Backstage Tour Program, a public program with a significant volunteer component.  This includes but is not limited to:  training of volunteers, scheduling, liaising with various departments impacted by program and volunteer mentor program.  Also may be called upon to support other activities of the department including, but not limited to: Active Learning Through Opera (ALTO), community concerts, preview dinners, symposia, and Youth Night at the Opera.  Depending on time and initiative, this position may also be assigned special projects related to education and community programming.
